Authors: Haque, Raheem ul
Abstract: The ongoing genocide in Gaza has taken off many of our blinkers since October 2023 and educated us on the realities of international affairs and the nature of power in the first quarters of the 21st century. Written on the first anniversary of October 7 and recently, this essay is an attempt to articulate these learnings as the author like many citizens of the world has been consumed by the barbarity of war through daily news and images, even as other conflicts continue to reign around the world.</summary>

Abstract: Inaugural Remarks&#xD;
The Conference explored the deeply interwoven historical, political, and human dimensions of bilateral relations, with a specific focus on Pakistan's evolving refugee repatriation policy. The conversation highlighted how recent developments, especially the repatriation drive initiated in 2023, sit at the intersection of past grievances, current insecurities, and a shrinking space for empathy and inclusion. Scholars and practitioners from both countries offered a multi-perspective analysis that ranged from geopolitical critique to cultural reflection, from field-based insights to normative proposals for rebuilding trust and cooperation.

Authors: Chaudhry, Dr.Rabia
Abstract: This study focuses on two critical areas - it explores the theoretical relationship between charismatic leadership and evolution of political parties; and, in that broader context makes a case study of Jamaat-i-Islami (the Jamaat or JI) of Pakistan, under the leadership of Qazi Hussain Ahmad (1987-2009). It breaks fresh ground by examining the role and relevance of the JI in contemporary Pakistan by analysing the attempts that Qazi Hussain Ahmad made to transform the JI into a populist movement and mainstreaming it as a political party&#xD;
while Pakistan made a transition to democracy. Did he succeed in transforming the JI? Is the JI now better prepared to participate in and contribute effectively to the democratic process in Pakistan? These are some of the questions that this study will attempt to answer.</summary>
