Abstract: The Centre for public policy and Governance (CPPG), in collaboration with the Punjab Council of the Arts (PUCAR), organized a policy dialogue on “Building Cultural Vibrancy through Performing Arts” on June 8, 2023. The objective of the policy dialogue was to assess the facilitation provided by the Government of Punjab (GoP) to the theatre and music communities. The dialogue aimed to generate practical and actionable recommendations to make Punjab's culture more vibrant and sustainable. It sought to address the immediate needs of artists by generating ideas to attract private investment. The purpose of this discussion was to develop a multi-year plan to raise the level of performing arts in the province. Additionally, strategies to promote local theatre art and music internationally were discussed, and the need for better monitoring and evaluation was recognized. The discussion resulted in improved awareness of theatre and music and provided a networking opportunity to the participants.

Abstract: In light of World Habitat Day and the right for human settlements to have a safe and secure environment in which to access their livelihoods, CPPG organized a Policy Dialogue titled “Pakistan floods- managing a climate crisis through people-centered policy design” on October 6, 2022. The Policy Dialogue had several objectives: to raise awareness on the current institutional, financial and organizational challenges to flood management, to advocate for actionable solutions that are embedded in data and informed decision-making (particularly among the panelists, faculty and students) and to promote cross-sectoral, collaborative responses that prioritize the health and safety of the most vulnerable. Panelists included a variety of disaster management stakeholders including a technical expert, government sector officials and a representative of community-based organizations. Students, public servants, international aid agencies, academics and development practitioners were invited to attend and participate in the Dialogue.

Authors: Shafqat, Dr. Saeed
Description: The Centre for Public Policy &amp; Governance (CPPG) in collaboration with Church World Service-Pakistan/Afghanistan) (CWS-P/A) organized two thematic deliberative sessions titled State &amp; Democracy and Leadership &amp; Governance on 15 – 16 April 2014 respectively, for up to 25 participants each day. Both organizations had observed considerable ambiguity or lack of understanding of the above thematic areas among potential civil society stakeholders. Thus, the objective was to provide theoretical, conceptual and interpretive understanding about State and Democracy, and Leadership and Governance through interactive sessions with the participants. These sessions linked the theoretical constructs and international case studies of each topic to their current contextual understanding in Pakistan.</description>
