Abstract: The real misery of a person seeking refuge lies in the fact that he / she is identified and thereby treated as a refugee (my Italics) by the others around. It is seldom realized by the people in general that the refugees are not refugees by default but have become so because of certain unforeseen circumstances. The paper aims to read the plight of the current Syrian refugees in the backdrop of Auden‘s Refugee Blues, a poem written about the German Jew refugees persecuted by the Nazi army.
