Abstract: The generation of zonal flows by small-scale coupled drift-ion-acoustic waves is investigated. The problem is analyzed in magnetized electron–positron–ion plasmas by the system of the generalized Hasegawa–Mima equation and the equation of parallel motion of ions. It is concluded that the inclusion of positrons enhances zonal flow growth rates.
