Abstract: A brief description of soil salinity has been presented with reference to Pakistan along with biological approach for controlling this problem. Cultivation of Kallar grass (Leptochloa fusca) at saline/alkaline soils has been specially mentioned in this connection. After giving an account of the mechanism of salt tolerance in plant some modem techniques used have been mentioned in this connection.
